The Richmond Haunted Mansion came about as the result of hearing numerous people complain over the years about how there is nothing fun to do in Northern Utah or Southern Idaho. As a result, the three owners came together to try to find a location that could be purchased. They wanted a permanent location close to Logan so the event could be an annual tradition within Northern Utah and Cache Valley.
They found the perfect location located at 500 W. Main in Richmond, Utah. The location has old trees and several other outside areas that look spooky. The building has around 200,000 sq ft of inside space. Minus props, actors and special effects, the building itself will scare you bad enough. There has been several horror movies filmed within the building over the past 10 years.
The building (Mansion) has a spooky personality of its own. It is a living, breathing labyrinth of long dark tunnels, chambers, large open areas and even bedrooms. Many of the styles range from medieval looking areas to 18th and 19th century colonial style. There is running water from an aquifer which adds to the effects. The building (Mansion) gives the effect of several well known movies such as “The Haunting (1999)” “American Haunting (2005)” “Harry Potter (Hogwarts Castle)” and “The Scariest Places on Earth.”
The building (Mansion) sits on 6 acres of land. With many old trees and several leftover concrete arch columns for grave yard effects, you very much get the outside effect of the movie “Sleepy Hollow (1999)” and “The Hollow (2004)”
One of the three owners took part in the 1995 Haunted House at the same Richmond location. They are also responsible for the 1997 season, Sherwood Hills Haunted Forest and the 2001-2002 season, Terror Hollow. Terror Hollow was featured on the Earth Files, Alien Dave and Coast to Coast AM websites. You can read all about the Sasquatch Sighting just after the 2002 Terror Hollow season.
The Richmond Haunted Mansion aims to be one of the best haunted attractions in the west. As this tradition goes down through the years, the special effects and props will get better. It will be hard to get as good as the well known Rocky Point attraction in Salt Lake was but we plan to come close.
What you won't see at the Richmond Haunted Mansion are characters, displays or depictions that go overboard such as “pinheads” and other things Demonic in nature. We feel there can be an appropriate yet excellent haunted attraction based on the startling value of special effects along with the traditional characters. Good props and background props also play an important part for us. It is also important for us to have some good outdoor scenes such as the graveyards found in traditional haunted houses.
We look forward to seeing you there and look forward to a great season!
